Many people, young and old, men and women, have dealt with yeast infection. But, many do not understand the severity of the problem. There are serious side effects of yeast infection in men that are not well publicized and thus are not well known. Men tend to ignore symptoms until the problem becomes overwhelming.

One of the reasons that yeast infection in men is missed is because the manifestations are harder to identify than those for women. When a woman gets a yeast infection, it often shows up as a vaginal discharge. This discharge is also associated with significant discomfort when urinating. It can also be a chronic itch that just can’t be alleviated.

Yeast infection in men, on the other hand, can show up as a small red patches in the groin area. The prostate is one of those areas. It is dark, moist and has very little if any oxygen. The yeast is left to grow unchecked and creates havoc on the prostate. Many men, sometime during their lives, will have prostate issues and some may even develop prostate cancer. This is probably the most serious effect of yeast infection in men, if left untreated.

Less severe side effects of yeast infection in men, include things like a frequent need to go relieve yourself or even constipation. These side effects, while somewhat benign are very inconvenient, especially if you wake up in the middle of the night constantly to go to the bathroom.
