Any of you who have had a problem with fatigue, bloated or gassy stomach or just general malaise know that it is not a fun thing. These symptoms could very well be related to Candida or yeast infection. The problem very much begins with your diet. A diet high in foods that are or break down into high levels of sugar will surely increase your chances of getting a yeast infection. The sugar content is what yeast thrives on. If you can reduce your intake of sugar, you will do wonders for your body.
Let’s start with some of the most obvious foods to avoid. These following foods are to be avoided as much as possible because they allow Candida and yeast to overgrow in your system. With an overgrowth of Candida and yeast infection comes increased susceptibility of toxic build up in your body. So, the obvious foods are high sugar content foods, such as refined sugar, fructose, corn syrup, white flour and rice, and brown sugar. As you can tell from this list, the foods are essentially sugar.
While fruit is a good source of vitamins and antioxidants, some of them have very high sugar content. The fruits that you should try to limit in this category include bananas, grapes, and tangerines. There are also a number of dried fruits, such as dates and prunes which should be avoided. In fact, the dried fruits are even higher in sugar content because of the drying process. Some of the other fruits that should be limited also include oranges, pineapples and pears. You can imagine just reading this list why you should limit your ingestion of these fruits. Some of the best fruits, with the lowest sugar content, include: raspberries, cranberries and blackberries. Coincidentally, they are also high in antioxidants. So, you get a double benefit from eating them.
Now, onto a diet that is low in carbohydrates. Why is this important? Because carbohydrates break down into sugar! And, of course, you know by now that you need to avoid sugar to help prevent yeast infections. What are examples of foods that are high carbohydrates? They included foods that are used by many people every day, including: pasta, bread, white rice and potatoes.
Good replacements for these foods would include diets high in grain. These diets are healthy alternatives and include ingredients such as: quinoa, millet, or buckwheat. Ideally, it’s best to take these grains and boil them into a soft mush type consistency. You can also add cinnamon or things like Xylitol or Stevia to “sweeten” them up. These substances already reside in our bodies and are a great sugar substitutes.
Yeast infection and Candida are easily prevented if you can create the right diet program. Many people are acclimated to eating fast and grabbing whatever is easiest to eat. With a little bit of forethought and planning, anyone can create a diet that is low in sugar and or eliminated all together. This is the best preventive medicine to fight yeast infection.
